Windsurfing Accessories
Windsurfing Must-Have Accessories ChecklistI know it is pretty exciting to set afloat for the first time. But you should know that shopping does not end at buying a windsurfing board. Keep a checklist of all the following Must-Have precautionary items that should not be avoided at any cost before you start windsurfing, every single time.
These accessories are Must-Haves for every surfer- whether beginner or advanced.
- Sun Block: Considering windsurfing to be an outdoor sport; applying a good quality Sun Block is essential. A host of products are available at your nearest super market. Choosing the right one is vital. A Sun Block protects you from both, UVA and UVB sun rays. Buy a water-proof one so that it doesn’t dissolve due to the salty waters. A Sun Block with SPF (Sun Protection Factor) 30 or higher is preferred to give you maximum sun protection. Make sure you cover every exposed part of your body with a Sun Block lotion to avoid severe sun burns and other skin damages.
- Eyewear: Similarly, buy a good pair of sunglasses that is meant for sporting events. Purchase the one which has an UV protect to it and covers the eye area well. Avoid looking at the glistening water with naked eyes as it can be fatal, and cause irreparable damage to your eyes.
- Footwear: People choose going bare-footed while windsurfing to get a proper grip on the board. But in case, you want to be trendy and make a fashion statement even while water sporting, I suggest you buy something that is non-slippery (on the board and on your feet as well), cheap yet durable footwear.
- Wetsuit: A wetsuit is a must while windsurfing. A wetsuit is designed specially to provide you with comfort while sailing in the water. Ask an experienced friend to help you to select an appropriate wetsuit.
- PFD: Personal Flotation Device (PFD) or better known as a life jacket is another must-have. Knowing how to swim is an added benefit. Do not forget to strap on your PFD for extra safety even if you are a good swimmer.
- Helmet: Choose a helmet that fits your head. A bigger size can constantly keep slipping off your head, despite the strap. And a smaller one can be very stuffy. Buy the one that does not weigh too much so that it feels comfortable when you are sailing away.
Do not compromise on quality for a little price difference. A little investment for your own good will be fruitful. All the same, these windsurfing accessories will not only safeguard you from potential danger but will also make you look like a pro.
